Marv Hansen, Chief Building Inspector for the City of Fremont, oversees the Building Department staff. Duties include permit issuance, inspections, plan review and monitoring construction sites.  Construction techniques and types are constantly changing, resulting in changes to federal, state and local regulations.  As a liaison between homeowners, contractors and government agencies, the Building Department must be well informed and address a multitude of issues.

The Building Department is committed to assisting the contractors and homeowners in our community create homes that meet or exceed current codes and provide a safe and livable home environment.  The Building Department ensures that all new construction conforms to the 2008 national electrical code, 2006 Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical code, and 2006 International Building code and 2006 International Residential code.  This includes residential projects as well as well as commercial projects that may be as small as a deck or as large as an industrial facility.
